About the Company
St. Albert & Sturgeon Primary Care Network (SASPCN) is one of many PCNs in Alberta, focused on delivering patient-centred care across a large geographical area, including St. Albert and Sturgeon County. Their network connects physicians with multidisciplinary healthcare professionals — from maternity to end-of-life care — to improve health outcomes for the community.
SASPCN needed a modern, vibrant website that not only reflected their inclusive values, but also served critical functions for both patients and physicians. Their previous site lacked clarity, accessibility, and functionality. Most notably, it didn’t support integration with the platforms physicians and patients relied on daily.
The new site needed to support single sign-on (SSO) for physicians accessing clinical decision support systems, allow patients to easily find available doctors, and enable seamless registration for free multi-session health classes — all while aligning with DEI-focused imagery and messaging.
OBJECTIVES:
- Implement secure single sign-on (SSO) integration for physician access
- Improve UX and navigation across services and programs
- Launch a “Find a Physician” feature to aid patient access
- Enable multi-session class registration with attendance tracking
- Apply visual guidelines reflecting diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Build a bright, welcoming design that improves community engagement

This project required both technical precision and human-centred thinking. Over five months, Digital Tea team collaborated closely with SASPCN’s internal team to design and launch a fully custom WordPress website tailored to the unique needs of a medical organization.
Our team implemented integration with a clinical decision support system to allow physicians to log in through a secure single sign-on. For patients, Digital Tea team introduced a user-friendly Find a Physician tool and build a registration system capable of managing free multi-session health classes — tracking attendance without manual intervention.
From design to deployment, every step reflected the PCN’s vision of accessible, inclusive healthcare.

Bringing IT All Together
The project began with a clear mandate: redesign the SASPCN website to better serve both medical professionals and the public. Their existing platform lacked modern features and failed to communicate the full scope of services available. Through a detailed discovery phase, Digital Tea team identified three primary challenges:
- Enabling physician access via SSO,
- Clarifying public-facing services, and
- Simplifying access to community health programs.
Our team addressed these challenges by combining custom development with strategic integrations. The single sign-on portal allows physicians to log in once and access essential clinical resources through an integrated support platform. The Find a Physician tool helps patients locate care providers — a vital feature given physician shortages in the region. For public education, our team implemented an events system that supports multi-session bookings, tracking registrations and attendance automatically.
On the design side, the site now reflects the organization’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through thoughtful photography and accessible UI elements. The site is clean, bright, and welcoming — in line with SASPCN’s mission to deliver healthcare that is proactive, respectful, and inclusive.
This project not only improved internal efficiency but also enhanced the public’s ability to access care and health education. It stands as a strong example of how digital tools can support community wellbeing when guided by the right values and partnerships.
